There’s a new struggle on my street, chronic migraine headaches. I could be dramatic and describe in detail the last bout I had with my newfound nemesis (last week). But I hate drama, so no.
Let me set the base, I have suffered only 4 migraines in my life. Numbers 1 and 4 were definitive migraines, 2 and 3 were thought to be TIA’s (transient ischemic attacks aka a mini stroke). A TIA is a temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain. When this happens you stop acting normal and usually end up getting an exciting ambulance ride that somebody has to tell you about later.
One of my problems is that the headaches are increasing in frequency. The second issue is the symptomatology and triggers of a migraine are all over the board. Try researching migraines on the internet. There is so much content, it’s like trying to take a sip out of a fire hydrant.
So what is one to do? Well, two things, first I go running to Dr. Crosby (Haus of Clarity). He tells me research conducted back in the 1970’s states that stress triggers, causing the migraine, can be the result of feeling a situation is your fault, but you can’t do anything about it. He goes on to say that this usually happens to people who are high performers in the work place. The recommended treatment is to develop a call to action to rectify the situation. The action plan must be law abiding, not offend anyone, and be positive for your own wellbeing. Essentially , I’m hanging on with one hand and reaching with the other to change my life script because it sucks. Caveat: To do this you need to have your head, heart and ass wired together. Meaning you can’t have lead (Pb copper group) in your ass, ice around your heart, or a fog in your head to make this successful. (Good Plan, Hard Work, and Perseverance)
The second thing I do is break out Occam’s razor. Occam’s razor is known today as a line of reasoning stating the simplest explanation is usually the right one. It’s an oversimplification and subjective as well, but I will take it when faced with a fuck-ton of information, 50% of it erroneous, to sift through. And if the simplistic explanation was reached through logic and reason, I’m good. I’ve been trying to follow logic and reason all my life.
So here’s a little secret just between us. This blog is part of my call to action to change my situation. Yes, Dr. Jeremy Crosby, recommended I start this blog (cathartic writing) and monetize it (possible career change). The blog also helps with my depression/PTSD. (Oh, I’m in the bonus!).

Health hack for migraine sufferers: Take ibuprofen (Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) at the same time and mix in some caffeine (I like coffee). This combination, taken at the onset of migraine symptoms (for me that’s a flu like energy drain, followed by impaired vision) can lessen the effect. Ergo, allowing you to get to a safe place to assume the fetal position and pray. Remember everyone is different and this may not be effective for all.
Winston Churchill said, “If you are in hell keep going”, I concur.
